In consequence of the so-called ‘spatial turn’, recent studies (s. Keating 2015 for a survey) stress the role of space and place in discourse, as space impacts language and its speaker. For a connection between space and agency (Duranti 2004) speaks also the fact that vagueness in the linguistic construction of space (and time) is often coupled with lack of agency and loss of control (De Fina 2003). Under these premises – and under consideration of indexicality (Duranti 2012: 14) –, the paper aims to investigate displacement and disorientation in narratives from the so-called Israelkorpus, a (mostly) German-language collection of interviews with German speaking Jews, who emigrated from Central Europe to Palestine/Israel mainly between 1933 and 1939 (Betten 1995; Betten & Du-nour 2000; cf. http://hdl.handle.net/10932/00-0332-C3A7-393A-8A01-3). The study intends to shed light on the use of linguistic elements in an utterance which anchor the latter with reference to space and time (on chronotopoi s. Abstract

Blommaert & De Fina 2013; Perrino 2015; on the Israelkorpus Leonardi 2016) in which the communicative situation takes place.
