La forma urbana napoletana è sintesi di architettura e geografia. Napoli è dunque un esempio paradigmatico di “città geografica”, nella quale anche i concetti di orizzontale e verticale, molto più che rimandare a modelli urbani universali, raccontano di rapporti di posizione tra gli elementi naturali del territorio tradotti e fissati in forme architettoniche e urbane. Ma se la geografia è la scienza che si occupa di mappare non solo i fenomeni fisici, ma anche quelli economici e sociali di un territorio, le architetture della città geografica sono dispositivi spaziali rappresentativi dei molteplici contesti cui appartengono. La rilettura di questi dispositivi rappresenta dunque una possibile strada per un progetto che, allontanandosi dalla dimensione “globale”, ritrova invece le proprie radici nella conoscenza della complessità nella quale si inserisce. Therefore, Naples is a paradigmatic exemple of a “geographical city” where also the concepts of horizontal and vertical do not refer to universal urban models but to positions and relations between the natural elements of the territory fixed in architectural and urban forms. However, if Geography is the Sciense that maps not only the physical phenomenona of a territory but also the social and economic ones, the buildings of the geographical city are spatial “dispositifs” representing the various contexts they belong in. Therefore, the analysis and the interpretation of these dispositifs represent a research path that enables a project that, rejecting a global approach (Latour, 2018), aims to find its own roots in the knowledge of the complexity where it is to be found.
