The paper aims at analysing some aspects of the indissoluble connection between desire and fear, which structures the concept of abyss [Abgrund] in Nietzsche’s Zarathustra. In this text the Abgrund is not thought merely as an unfathomable [Unergründliches], i.e. as a lack of foundation – a bottomless to be understood as a chasm, a precipice –, but as a primary belonging to the event of the abyss. The only chance to be able to think this abyss is to investigate a new way of considering the concept of desire, no longer as an attempt to fill the void of a lack that arises from a sense of indigence, but as a creative drive of the will to power that arises from an excess of fullness and pushes to create despite the void.

Abstract
The paper aims at analysing some aspects of the indissoluble connection between desire and fear, which structures the concept of abyss [Abgrund] in Nietzsche’s Zarathustra. In this text the Abgrund is not thought merely as an unfathomable [Unergründliches], i.e. as a lack of foundation – a bottomless to be understood as a chasm, a precipice –, but as a primary belonging to the event of the abyss. The only chance to be able to think this abyss is to investigate a new way of considering the concept of desire, no longer as an attempt to fill the void of a lack that arises from a sense of indigence, but as a creative drive of the will to power that arises from an excess of fullness and pushes to create despite the void.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
