Abstract

The ever increasing need to protect the environment, in the sector that is being pointed out as the one with the greatest responsibility for the problems of pollution and the crisis of resources, has motivated, in the last decade, very interesting experimentations with significant and practical consequences. Mortars and concretes have been involved in numerous studies that have focused their attention on the use of various types of waste materials and with different combinations. The experimental study proposed, focuses on the mix-design for the tailoring of mortars for different uses, in the light of several tests from which it emerged that the composition should be actually estabilished taking into account the specific use, as it can propose problems of thickness, workability, durability, compatibility with other materials, which otherwise are more difficult to solve. At the end of the article, which describes the results of laboratory experiments carried out in the last years, a technical specification to encourage designers to use this type of products, and a multi-criteria analysis to evaluate - under different aspects - convenience to this type of choice, are exposed
