Thanks to his visit to Naples in 1924, Walter Benjamin began his reflection on the city as a paradigm of modernity. Naples is the place where Benjamin sees for the first time the phantasmagoria of modern, even if it is permeated with different archaic figures. The dialectical image of Naples to which arrives Benjamin is the prototype of what he will draw on Paris, the nineteenth century capital.
