The work analyzes environmental and social sustainability strategies of Italian agri-food firms, with reference to the fruit and vegetable sector (F&V). Particularly, it aims tat understanding which priority firms give to sustainability in their corporate management and how it is implemented in measures, actions and programs. The attention in this work is focused on fruit and vegetable Producers Organizations (POs) and Association of Producers Organizations (APOs), that are considered the basic actors in the European Union fruit and vegetable regime to support and reinforce producers’ position in the market. Descriptive and exploratory analyses were performed on the POs’ goals priority, implemented measures and environmental and social actions. In general, results show a strong interdependence between quality and safety products, environmental protection and sustainability. Different goals of sustainability exist, but POs share common objectives: high priority is given to aggregation of production and guarantee market outlets, improving the healthy products and quality, promotion of environmentally friendly techniques.

Abstract
