The different trends of polymn. rate as a function of time obsd. when polymg. propene [115-07-1], ethylene [74-85-1], and mixts. thereof in the presence of MgCl2-supported catalysts are explained assuming that catalyst deactivation is due to the redn. of Ti(III) by alkylaluminum to lower, polymn.-inactive oxidn. states, and that ethylene polymn. is diffusion-controlled. A possible route for Ti redn. is also presented, which might give the reason for the obsd. kinetics of polymn. rate decay.
