Telemedicine is the practise of healthcare using interactive audio, visual and data communication; this includes healthcare delivery, diagnosis, consultation and treatment as well as education and transfer of medical data. It has a big role in cardiology, radiology and oncology. During the last years, telemedicine has reached a great importance in dermatology. It holds great potential for revolutionizing the delivery of dermatology services, providing fair services to remote areas. Teledermatology is an important chance to reduce morbidity and mortality of non melanoma and melanoma skin cancer. Digital follow up examinations, computer-aided diagnosis and teledermoscopy are new features that will change the actual handling of skin cancers and melanoma. The early detection of melanoma leads to a decreased number of excised benign lesions, optimizing the screening of skin cancer.
