The fibrocalcifying non-neoplastic masses are rare intracranial lesions, likely of reactive origin, which consist of granuloma-like, fibrous and calcified areas. A 48-year-old man with a such lesion of the frontal lobe, explored by CT and MR and treated surgically, is described and the other 4 reported cases with intracerebral localization are reviewed. The MR differential diagnosis with other calcifying lesions, such as oligodendrogliomas and infectious granulomas, is briefly discussed. Even. a marginal surgical removal may be sufficient and results in lack of regrowth or recurrence also many years after surgery.
