This invention describes the preparation of RANTES-derived peptides of general formula Ac-C-x1-PYI-x2-x3-Y-NH2 (x1, x3 = Phe, Tyr, Nal, Cha; x2 = spacer of 2 to 12 amino acidic residues) for treatment of diseases in which RANTES receptor is involved. Peptides of the invention are useful for prevention or treatment of AIDS and other viral diseases, inflammatory, allergic, degenerative, and neoplastic diseases and all diseases in which chemokines or their receptors are involved.
