The authors are to be congratulated for the scheme that they have developed: it is conceptually simple and extremely effective in dealing with shallow flows over complex topographies. The discussers are working on a scheme with similar properties and features; which has been derived from a different approach. One of the topics that the discussers explicitly address in the paper they are currently developing is the treatment of partially wet cells, which the authors also point out to be a delicate task in the solution of many shallow water flows. The discussers have worked out a way to address this point that would work very well also when applied to the scheme used in the paper under discussion. The discussers are here contributing this simple modification that addresses the partially wet-cells problem in a consistent manner.
